The Book of John Lennon

John_Lennon

(1940 – 1980)

There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement and acceptance. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.

I am not afraid of death because I don’t believe in it. It’s just getting out of one car into another.

When I was five years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I wrote down happy. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment and I told them they didn’t understand life.

There’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you are meant to be.

Part of me thinks that I am a loser and part of me thinks I am God Almighty.

Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.

The more I see the less I know.

Possession isn’t nine- tenths of the law. It is nine-tenths of the problem.

Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.

Reality leaves a lot to the imagination…. [So]

IMAGINE

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today.

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace.

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one.

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world.

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one.
